I get to start of all the topics, isn't it great! I am on this forum before anyone else could get to it. One of the perks of being EFHA boardmember.

This topic is called organization and that is what this post will be about. Organization; “is it something” or is it something to do? As far as organizing goes; I am on it, but that is not what I meant by this topic. I want to know about organizations involved in historic aviation. What you got, what you do!

I am chairman of an organization in Holland, the National Federation Historic Aviation. I am not the first chairman because the NFHA has been around since 1992. It was founded by a bunch of visionaries. They could see into the future and were able to persuade our authorities towards good regulations for historic aviation. Our Minister even decided that we should use self governance and set up our own quality control system.
A special class of aviation was defined: Non-commercial aviation for a compensation fee. The only restriction we have is that we can only fly 200 hours per year with “passengers”. Well, we can not call them that, they are sponsors. In the 200 hours training and test flights are excluded.

Are you jealous yet? In Belgium there are NO regulations for historic aviation, they are actually hoping for European regulation that would hopefully be an improvement compared to what they got now. In France it is not allowed to fly passengers with the bigger collection pieces. In Holland the system has worked out great. We’ve been well of regulation wise and quality audits are being performed by the NFHA quality team on a yearly basis. We did get hit by regulations that have nothing to do with historic aviation….tax regulations…more on that on another topic.

Tell us about your organization, your passion, your airplane……please!

Does anybody know, who is in contact with our loved FOCA / BaZL in Bern, Switzerland regarding the whole matter of Antique Airplanes / ANNEX II-replacement by EASA-regulations?

Regards

Andreas Müller, Stearmanclub Altenrhein, Switzerland (HB-RBG)

Dear Andreas,

We with EFHA are happy the Swiss people are getting on the EFHA page. May I suggest, regarding your question, to take the matter up with our EFHA ambassador in Switzerland via ambassador-switzerland@efha.eu. (Arie Wubben) This way we can coordinate actions, questions and answers. We will find out the status of Swiss legislation together and find out how much we can accomplish!

With high regards,

Harry Haas
